Perhaps one of the most important aspects of ITAD services is data destruction. Data destruction can come in many forms. Whether it is device wipes for units slated for resale, hard drive shredding, device destruction, etc. Your organization must be receiving these services from an accredited facility. This is because accredited ITAD facilities must abide by the N.I.S.T. standards for data destruction methods. Your organization needs its data protected! If you are not receiving these services from an accredited source you risk having data-bearing devices handled/destroyed improperly which could lead to potential data leaks. When doing business with an accredited ITAD facility, you will receive a certificate of data destruction with an equipment list and the methods used per serial number of how the data was destroyed.

This service is a part of the recycling and data destruction process. Accredited ITAD facilities will receive your e-waste. They will then audit each individual item and separate them based on where they fall under the facilities grading scale which is determined by the external & internal health of the asset. If there is value attached to the asset, an ITAD facility will offer your company with a purchase offer.

The inspection alongside the data destruction and recycling process takes up to 30 business days to complete. At the end of this process the ITAD facility will provide you with the detailed equipment lists specifying the data destruction method used, which assets were downstream recycled, and which assets had monetary value attached to them, along with your certificates.
